Lower Fall 2009 T-shirts

Posted: 05 Oct 2009 02:40 AM PDT

New Zealand based brand, Lower, incorporates a mix of street culture inspired by art, music and fashion, a culture which has a lot more depth and creativity than the typical surf/street industry. The label's name defines what the clothes are about – an underground subculture of rebellious urbanites passionate about fashion who have no qualms about spending their paycheques on clothes. Here’s a look at two new t-shirts designed by Stephen Kirkby for Lower for their latest “Midnight” theme.

“We generally offer two designs: —one art based design and one more commercial design. We try and create a little theme around them. Next months theme is called midnight and has a bit of a metal feel to it, the designs being named after Slayer and a Suicidal Tendencies songs. Previous theme’s that have gone well are the ‘Lunch money’ which had a schoolyard rumble design reminiscent of Snoopy cartoons and artwork from HC band ‘Mental’. Another previous theme was ‘Modele Sauvage’ which is french for ‘Wild Style’—a tribute to the infamous 80’s hip hop and graffiti movie.”
