DC Life Collection Holiday 2009

Posted: 10 Nov 2009 12:46 AM PST

Done up with a classic wing tip toe for a touch of luxury, introducing the Sector 7 WT and Admiral WT of the Holiday 2009 DC LIFE Collection. Built on DC's slim and comfortable dress sneaker outsole, filling the uppers are premium leathers and construction, a trademark of DC. The incorporation of cement and concrete colors, a staple element in skateboarding, runs as a key design thematic, and the honed stone effect on the collar and straps represent what ledges look like after they've been grinded. A unique double ankle strap—a first for DC—adds flare and class for days on the high top Admiral WT. We could all use a little class, right? Right.

AnOther Magazine has teamed up with colette for a collaborative project called “Off The Page”, featuring a few of their favorite brands and designers. Listed as one, Peter Pilotto lends his hands to create a new print for an exclusive Mismo bag. Is it me or does this bag remind us of Jeremy Scott x Longchamp “Pliage” bag?

Review: R. Kelly’s “Ladies Make Some Noise” Tour

Posted: 09 Nov 2009 11:39 PM PST

In effort to promote his return and upcoming album, “Untitled“, due out December 1st — I was invited to R.Kelly’s “Ladies Make Some Noise” tour. Kelly, known for his encounters with the law, had publicized this was his first return after his court case. The legendary R&B-Soul artist took a long hiatus and made it a point to deliver an amazing throwback concert for those who grew up to his classic hits and baby making tracks.

Opening the night for our main act was Pretty Ricky’s — Pleasure P. Although, I’m not a huge fan of his music, his deliverance was fitting for the atmosphere provided for what’s about to ensue. R. Kelly hits the stage with major classics, “Bump and Grind”, “You Remind Me Of Something”, “One Man”, “Ignition”, and “Fiesta” just to list a few. Of course in promotion for his upcoming album, current crowd pleaser, “Number One”, headlined the night — but to my disappointment, I expected more teasers. To our surprise, he went into great detail with his friendship with the late, Michael Jackson, showcasing a special clip of MJ head bobbin’ to “Ignition”. “Michael Jackson being gone is like our musical breath being taken away,” stated Kelly. Truly a bittersweet moment shared amongst Kelly and his fans.

The venue was filled with couples, girl friends, guy friends, old and new fans from aged to young. It was clear to see his music translates to a diverse crowd from one era to the next. In hopes to continue his spot as the King of R&B — R. Kelly has proven to me and many that he has NOT lost his touch. The ladies definitely made some noise! This concert was a concoction of classic songs that transpired into timeless tunes that we all love to enjoy and it was a pleasure to have had the opportunity to experience it in person.

He’s now currently in route to hit the remaining 19 cities — tour dates listed.

Special thanks to Shannon over at Zomba/Jive for everything. I took a walk back to memory lane — It’s highly appreciated. ;)

Introducing: Motel Clothing

America can be quite inspirational for foreign designers. You would think it’s the other way around but not in this case. For example — two thrift shop fanatics who was ignited with the idea to open up their own collectives to the masses after visiting the west coast in the states. Once heading back they instantly took the initiative to bring those ideas to fruition. “Motel today aims to provide you ladies with the same buzz felt back then – When you know that you’ve found a little gem of a label that has the perfect clothes for you!” — Let me tell you, after a quick skim through their online boutique, I was instantaneously SOLD! Below are some highlighted items featured but you would have to check it out for yourself to feel what I felt. ;)
